More J2K/UC-61/Argus Images

Here are a few images of work in progress on the UC-61/Argus, aka Tar-Baby. The top two images were taken on 10 November, 2001 and shows that progress is continuing on the plane's restoration back to full airworthiness.

The good news is that the Tar-Baby's engine and nose are now back together and ready to be test run. Check out the copilot!
Bad news is that the Tar-Baby's tail needs repairs to its wooden structure and the fabric covering needs to be replaced. Note the rather large holes which resulted from the fabric punch tests.

Col Bobby Meroney helps Ken Sass remove the tail wheel for inspection and servicing.
Wing Maintenance Officer Bill Coombes examines the tail wheel assembly with Bobby, while Wing Adjutant, Mary Alice Tidwell looks on.
Once the tire was removed, the tail wheel was found to be more than a little well worn... The Tar-Baby had struck again! Anyone have a new tail wheel for a UC-61?
Col Ken Sass examines the UC-61's new instrument panel and the diagram of how the instruments and controls will be laid out.

We'll have some more images as the work progresses.
