Christmas Night Flights Kick Off With Media Night

The third annual Christmas Night Flight program got off to a good start last night when reporters from the big three TV networks had the opportunity to fly the evening skies over west Texas.  Their reports go a long way toward making our event a success and we thank them for their participation.

Navion is chomping at the bit.

Among many other things going on at the Wing yesterday, the Navion was started again after extensive engine repairs.  It appeared to be running fine, but you’ll have to talk to the wrench turners for the “real skinny”.  While Steve Clinton and Mark Haskin had the honor of cranking her up, thanks go to all who put in their time, effort, and sometimes, money to get her this far.

Midland Army Air Field Museum Visits Grady School

H. A. Tuck and Greg Gutting spent Friday at the Grady School Veteran’s Day Assembly.  There were about twenty veterans in attendance and the student council presented an excellent salute to veterans.  Afterwards several classes stopped by our display for some education and fun.

Low overhead kept the wing from providing their usual fly-over for the student body.

This is the third year that the HSW has made an appearance at Grady’s celebration and we hope to be invited back every year.

HSW Prepares for Veteran’s Day Presentation at Grady School

On Friday, Nov 10th, H.A. Tuck and Greg Gutting will travel to Grady School to make a presentation at their annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony. They will set up tables in the commons area and, after the official school ceremony, will exhibit select artifacts and make presentations to various classes during the school day.  Operations Officer Steve Clinton is planning for a flyover by one or more wing aircraft.

This is the third year that the HSW has participated in Grady’s ceremony and we hope to continue the tradition well into the future as a part of our mission to educate.
